There is no fee, no application maze, and no catch. Here is exactly who we help, what we can do, and how to start the conversation.
You do not need the right words for it. Tell us a little below, or email us if you would rather write it your own way. Either way, a real person reads it and follows up within a day or two.
Asking on behalf of someone else? A case worker, family member, or neighbor can use our referral form instead.
A real person reads every request, usually within a day or two.
Neighbors in San Diego County who need a hand and do not have a good way to pay for one. You only need to fit one of these:
We do not ask for a stack of paperwork. We ask enough to understand your situation and to be fair to everyone waiting. Repair work usually needs the homeowner's permission; if you rent, we may still be able to help with yard work, errands, and hauling, or work with your landlord's written approval.
Small repairs, safety work, yard and exterior cleanup, household tasks, and errands. A leaking faucet, a grab bar or handrail, an overgrown yard, a fence panel that blew down, a heavy piece of furniture, a prescription that needs picking up. If it is keeping you from being safe and steady at home, ask, and we will tell you honestly whether we can help.
Full remodels, structural work, major systems replacement, medical or personal care, or emergency response. Work that needs a licensed trade is done by our licensed partner contractors under their own license and insurance, and some jobs are better served by a referral than a crew.
Send a note through this site, call, or email. A family member, neighbor, or case worker can do it for you. You do not need to know what to call the problem.
Someone from our team calls to understand your situation, not to run you through a script. If it sounds like a fit, we come see the work and tell you plainly what we can do, what we cannot, and roughly when. If we cannot help, we try to point you to someone who can.
A volunteer crew, a partner tradesperson, or both. You are told who is coming and when, and nobody knocks unannounced. Afterward we follow up to make sure it held.
Nothing. There is no fee, no deposit, and no bill afterward. Materials are paid for by donations. You are never asked to reimburse us, and you are never asked to donate.
No. Nobody will pitch you a service, ask about selling your home, or use your information for anything other than helping you. If anyone ever does, we want to hear about it directly.
It depends on the work and on how many people are waiting. We are a small organization and we would rather give you an honest timeline than an optimistic one.
Screened volunteers and, where licensed work is involved, vetted partner contractors. Anyone entering your home has completed a background check. You will know who is coming before they arrive.
