Site terms, our text messaging program, and what we do and do not promise.
Last updated July 2026.
This website belongs to The Neighborhood Crew, a California nonprofit public benefit corporation. You are welcome to use it to learn about us, request help, offer help, or make a gift. Please do not misuse it: no attempts to break it, scrape it, or submit false requests that take a spot from someone who needs it.
Submitting a request does not create an obligation for us to perform any work. We assess each request against our written eligibility criteria and our capacity, and we will tell you honestly whether we can help. Work is performed by volunteers and by independent partner contractors under their own licenses and insurance. We do not guarantee outcomes, and we are not a substitute for a licensed contractor you hire directly.
These terms govern the text messages we send.
Volunteering is subject to a separate written agreement and, where you would enter a neighbor's home, a background check. Volunteers must be 18 or older. Nothing here creates an employment relationship. Partner contractors work under their own licenses and insurance and are not our employees or agents.
Gifts are used to further our charitable purpose. We do not guarantee that any particular gift funds any particular project unless we have agreed to that in writing with you. Our federal 501(c)(3) application goes to the IRS in early August 2026, so contributions are not tax-deductible until they issue a determination letter. If exempt status is granted it applies retroactively to July 26, 2026, our incorporation date. The value of donated labor or services is not tax-deductible under IRS rules; materials donated at cost generally are. Talk to your own tax advisor.
This site and its content are provided as they are, without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by California law, The Neighborhood Crew and its directors, officers, and volunteers are not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of this site. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, and any dispute will be handled in the courts of San Diego County.
